Vidyarambham

Vidyarambham is a tradition observed on Vijayadashami day mainly in Kerala, Tamil Nadu and coastal Karnataka, where children are formally introduced to learning of music, dance, languages and other folk arts. It involves a ceremony of initiation into the characters of the syllabary.

Benefits:
-
As part of Hindu Dharma, a person born as a hindu has to undergo 16 Samkaras and Vidyarambham is one of the 16 Samskaras.
-
As part of the Vidyarambham ceremony, three letters that symbolize the name of God are written on the tongue of the child with a golden ring. The child is also made to form letters in a plate of rice with the help of elders.
